Apple was rescued from La Granadella in April 2021, along with another dog named Logan who did not survive due to his poor health and malnutrition after more than two weeks at the vet.
Apple's previous situation was really terrible and the team has never experienced such a terrible case. The dogs were "kept" on a fenced farm with no food or drinking water and then just left to their fate. Sadly, many lost their lives due to starvation, lack of water and disease. The dogs that could be rescued were immediately cared for and rehomed.
Apple's name comes from a small apple-shaped spot in his fur.
In the beginning he was a very scared, skinny dog. Gradually he understood that he will not be hurt and that the crowds have made it their mission to care for him until he is ready to find his forever family.
Apple is a shy dog with strangers, but very good natured and not aggressive at all, despite all the cruelty he has experienced.
He has no problem with other dogs, lives in harmony with male and female dogs at the shelter. Apple walks well on the leash, does not pull, is respectful, calm and unexcited. He loves to sunbathe and lie down to absorb and enjoy that warmth of the cold winter days at the shelter. But the time has come for Apple to know the warmth of a hearth from the sofa and the warmth of his new family.
The only behavior that is still being worked on with him is that when it comes to food, he marks other dogs. But given the hunger he has gone through in his life, it is important to understand that this is something normal and temporary and that he will gradually improve.
We are looking for a family that is calm like him, patient, loving and shows him that people can also be good and love him. In the beginning Apple needs his space, which should be respected. But once he settles in and feels that everyone means well with him, he will open his heart.
If you would like to give Apple a loving and understanding home, please get in touch with his contact Verena Strobel.
Apple is neutered, his MMK test negative. He will be fully vaccinated, dewormed, chipped and EU passport.
